Course Registration

Course enrollment

  • During the course registration period, course registration is available 24 hours (however, system maintenance downtime for course registration from 17:00 to 18:00), and for returning students, course registration is available after applying for resumption of studies.
  • Location: accessible via the university website (each department’s office and university computer labs available)

Course registration

    Obtain course advising from the academic advisor and the head professor of the affiliated department to apply for the courses to be completed

    After becoming familiar with the course registration input method, students should directly enter their course registration details in the university administrative information system.

  • Enter and confirm course registration
    • After receiving course advising from the academic advisor and the head professor of the affiliated department within the designated period, go to ‘UOS Portal → Course Registration System.’ You must access the system and carefully review the course registration guide before directly entering your course registration details.
    • Once the data entry is complete, be sure to print the course registration confirmation and recheck it, then submit it to the affiliated department within 10 days.

Note

  • Students must directly register for courses using the school website (UOS portal) during the designated period. It is essential to accurately enter the course number and section number for the subjects you wish to take.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that there are no overlaps in course subjects or class times, and that the total credits do not exceed the allowed limit for the semester.
  • You must be careful to register for courses in a way that does not interfere with your completion credits, and proxy registration is not allowed.
  • If registration is not completed within the registration period (due to unpaid tuition), the course registration will be deleted, so please be mindful of this.
  • Please be aware of the following cases that correspond to course registration cancellation and unrecognized credits.
    • If credits are earned by exceeding the maximum allowed credits for course registration, the highest earned credits among the elective courses
    • Courses that have been arbitrarily registered in the attendance list without confirming the course registration
    • If the same course is registered for multiple times
    • If courses with overlapping class times are registered
    • If the student is not currently registered, such as in the cases of non-registered students or those on a leave of absence
  • If your password is exposed, the contents of your course registration cannot be protected, so it must be managed carefully.
  • View syllabus: UOS Portal → Class Schedule → Select and confirm the relevant course.
    ※ If a course registration error occurs due to your own negligence, you will be responsible for it, so you must carefully apply and confirm your registration.

Note

  • Master’s degree
    • Credits for course registration: maximum of 12 credits can be registered for each semester
    • Prerequisite courses are not included in the minimum credits required for completion. It is generally required to complete them in the first and second semesters; however, considering the characteristics of the department, they may be completed in the third semester if approved by the graduate school dean.
    • Recognition of courses offered by other departments: If the head professor of the department acknowledges the necessity of the course, up to 12 credits may be taken during the entire period of enrollment.
  • Doctorate's degree
    • Credits for course registration: maximum of 12 credits can be registered for each semester
    • Recognition of courses offered by other departments: If the head professor of the department acknowledges the necessity of the course, up to 18 credits may be taken during the entire period of enrollment.
Course registration for thesis research
  • According to Article 28 (Registration and Tuition Fees) of the Integrated Graduate School Regulations, students in the master’s program (24 credits) and the doctorate's program (36 credits) who have completed all minimum required credits and have no courses to register for must register for the thesis research course.
  • When registering for the thesis research course, select the thesis supervisor (responsible professor) for course registration.
  • Common matters
    • Students who have entered other majors in the university or graduate school must complete the prerequisite courses designated by their department as necessary.
    • Students who have entered other major departments must complete the prerequisite courses for the major program as designated by the department.
  • Cooperative programs and interdisciplinary majors
    • For both master’s and doctorate's programs, despite the limitations on taking courses offered by other departments and the credits earned, if approved by the head professor of the affiliated department, there are no restrictions in the following cases. The credits earned will be recognized as credits earned in the major coursework.

Changes to course registration

  • Procedures and methods
    • Changes to registered courses must be applied for in the same manner as course registration within the designated period, under the guidance of the head professor of the affiliated department.

Confirmation of course registration

  • Confirmation of course registration
    • Primary confirmation: During the change period, students must personally verify their course registration using the course registration confirmation form and the UOS portal.
    • Final confirmation: After the course registration confirmation and modification period, obtain the course registration final confirmation document, which is printed in bulk, from the affiliated department and verify the course registration details.

      ※ Any issues arising from not verifying the course registration details are the responsibility of the student.

  • Please be aware that the current grade information provided may contain errors during the data processing stage. For accurate confirmation regarding graduation requirements, please contact the respective department and the Graduate School.
