Student Loans

Graduate students can receive internal scholarships, such as for exemplary students and research studies, external scholarships provided by external scholarship foundations, and student loans through the Korea Student Aid Foundation.

Student Loans

Loan eligibility
  • New and current graduate students
Loan support range
  • Full amount of actual tuition fees and living expenses
(up to ₩1.5 million per semester for living expenses)
Loan application method
  • Apply online via the Korea Student Aid Foundation website www.kosaf.go.kr during the loan application period set by the foundation
(public certificate issued by a commercial bank required for loan application)
Loan procedure
  • 1Student loan application: Apply online via the Korea Student Aid Foundation website www.kosaf.go.kr during the loan application period set by the foundation

※ Based on previous years, the loan application period is usually January to February for the first semester and July to August for the second semester, with additional applications possible until the tuition payment deadline in early March or early September.

  • 2Loan eligibility: Check via the Korea Student Aid Foundation website www.kosaf.go.kr before concluding the loan agreement
  • 3 Loan agreement: Loan disbursement request: Even if eligible for a loan, the loan agreement must be concluded during the University of Seoul’s tuition payment period for the loan to be executed; upon agreement conclusion, the loan amount is automatically deposited into the university’s tuition account under the student’s name

※ Loan applications are possible even outside the University of Seoul's tuition payment period, but loan agreement conclusion, which can be considered as a loan disbursement request, is only possible during the tuition payment period.

Loan repayment
  • Set the grace period and repayment period when concluding the loan agreement; only interest is paid during the grace period, and the principal and accrued interest are repaid in installments during the repayment period

※ As student loans are implemented by the government, the loan content, application method, and application period may differ from previous years depending on government policy. Changes will be posted on the University of Seoul’s scholarship/loan notice board, but more prompt and detailed information can be found on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website www.kosaf.go.kr
