This becomes an important mutuality with interdisciplinary exchanges and connections with adjacent disciplines such as humanities, natural sciences, and engineering. Based on this, this department aims to activate the convergence of academic systems based on modern sculpture and design majors, and to improve the creative cultural prosperity of fine arts and design as its educational goal.
Detailed objectives
  • 1. Convergence
    • 1-1 Completion of talent education program through fine arts (modern sculpture) and design
    • 1-2 Creating a new convergence research foundation by linking design research institutes (trend research institutes) and technology research institutes (BT fields, etc.) in industrial sites (creativity-driven design tasks, etc.)
    • 1-3 Specialization of research LAB by researching and converging the academic systems of modern sculpture and design
    • 1-4 Operation of commissioned research and joint project LAB between universities and companies
    • 1-5 Realization of research continuity and systematic structuring of personnel through activation of master's and doctoral linked programs
  • 2. Globalization
    • 2-1 Academic and human exchanges with domestic and foreign universities related to formative design (Europe, Japan, USA, etc.)
    • 2-2 Cooperate with overseas formative art organizations and design research institutes (companies, professional studios, forums, etc.) to activate human exchanges and study contemporary trends
    • 2-3 Operation of expert lectures and global trend and culture research programs
    • 2-4 Strengthening leadership capabilities by operating programs to foster domestic and international formative & design leaders
    • 2-5 Attracting foreign students for educational status (training, short-term, regular course programs)
    • 2-6 Establishing a global network for creation and exhibition of modern sculpture
  • 3. Openness
    • 3-1 Establishment of industry-academic research projects and programs related to sub-fields of formative arts and design disciplines
    • 3-2 Establishment of formative education programs for public education linked to the region (seminars, design program development)
    • 3-3 Establishing contemporary creative power related to fine arts by studying the history and characteristics of modern sculpture
Research areas Modern sculpture, Industrial design, Visual design

Majors (track)

Modern Sculpture Analysis of the characteristics and development of modern sculpture since the 20th century through aesthetics and art theory. Also, research in the understanding of contemporary art concepts and on-site practices to systematize them academically and improve individual artwork production skills. It has a core goal of nurturing sculptors who lead contemporary art in the 21st century.
Industrial Design 1. Convergence
Industrial design focuses on research on future-oriented complex and convergent creation, leading creative, experimental, and challenging environmental design, and cultivating the ability to solve various design problems that can arise in cultural life and public spaces with creative perspectives and experimental methods In addition, it aims to nurture creative and specialized designers as active organizers leading the changes of the times, and to improve leadership qualities in the design field through re-education and continuing education of independent managers engaged in design-related work in industries, institutions, and organizations.
Visual Design 1. Convergence
The Visual Design major consists of the Communication Design field for effective information delivery and the Digital Contents Design field for utilizing new media in the information age. In response to the demands of the era where new media are continuously developed and the amount of information is explosively increasing, it aims to improve adaptability to various media to develop practical skills as designers and cultivate leadership as design educators and art directors who can adapt to and lead new trends.
