Educational objectives

Core objectives The main core objective is to pioneer and establish a new academic field that approaches disasters from a scientific perspective in South Korea and to cultivate top-level fire protection and disaster science experts who can actively respond to changing disaster demands such as firefighting and disaster management.
Detailed objectives
1. Comprehensive training for interdisciplinary experts required throughout the disaster management life cycle from prevention to control, suppression, recovery, revival, and prevention involving urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, information technology, mechanics, management, and administration.
2. Cultivation of top-level international disaster science scholars and disaster management CEOs through in-depth theoretical approaches based on interdisciplinary approaches to disaster science and establishment and utilization of domestic and international industry-academic-government networks.
Research areas Firefighting command control and tactics that constitute disaster science; infrastructure for firefighting and disaster prevention systems; crisis management simulation systems; spatial disaster performance evaluation and evacuation systems; natural disasters such as wind damage; earthquake disasters and seismic engineering; safety in daily life and citizen disaster prevention; informatization of firefighting and disaster management including IT; along with policy development and decision-making optimization techniques across various specialized fields.
