General admission degree programs

Master's degree
  • Individuals who have obtained a bachelor's degree from domestic or foreign universities or those expected to obtain a degree upon completion of the current registered semester
  • Individuals recognized as having equivalent or higher academic qualifications under relevant laws
Doctorate's degree
  • Individuals who have obtained a bachelor's degree from domestic or foreign universities or those expected to obtain a degree upon completion of the current registered semester
  • Individuals recognized as having equivalent or higher academic qualifications under relevant laws
Eligibility for master's/doctorate's
Support for North Korean defectors
  • Individuals qualified to apply for master's or doctorate's program
  • Individuals registered as North Korean defectors pursuant to the North Korean Defectors Protection and Settlement Support Act

Additional eligibility requirements and submission documents

  • English reading TEST in humanities and social sciences
  • Submission of official English proficiency test scores (TOEIC, TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS) recommended

Minimum publication requirements for doctoral dissertation

  • To be eligible for a doctoral degree, at least one paper must be published as first author in a journal listed (or candidate) by the National Research Foundation of Korea

Department regulations

[Qualifications for submitting a doctoral dissertation research proposal in the Department of Urban Administration]
  • Only those who meet the following requirements can submit a research proposal for a doctoral dissertation. (Newly established in March 2002)

    • Those who have completed at least 4 semesters of registration and acquired the required credits (60 credits) for completion.
    • Those who have passed the foreign language test and comprehensive examination
    • Those who have not exceeded 8 years after completing the program
    • For those admitted from 1989 to 2007 academic year (decided at the department meeting on March 17, 2008), those who have published at least one paper (sole author or joint research with up to 3 people) in a national academic journal before submitting the dissertation research proposal

    ※ Based on the UOS Graduate School Implementation Regulations for those admitted from 2008 academic year onwards: at least one publication record as first author in a journal listed (or candidate) by the National Research Foundation of Korea (Article 46 of the Graduate School Enforcement Rules) - performance published after admission to the doctoral program, indicating affiliation with this university

Graduate school operating principles

  • Master's: Classes are held during daytime hours, so it is not possible to have a job while attending graduate school
