Educational objectives

Core objectives
  • 1. Strengthen the understanding of comprehensive welfare to realize the improvement of human welfare and social integration throughout the life cycle from cradle to grave, and examine specific directions and tasks of Korean social welfare policy and practice.
  • 2. Acquire major theories and strategies that serve as the basis for public sector welfare policies and administration, as well as practical knowledge and skills that can provide unique and professional help to welfare recipients in various fields.

  • Social Welfare Administration: Research on social welfare systems and policies, etc.
  • Social Welfare Practice: Research on social practice methods for various problems faced by social classes such as women, children, and people with disabilities
  • Community Welfare: Research and problem-solving for various social welfare issues occurring in local communities

Majors (track)

Policy, Administration, and Social Research Analysis Learn theories related to social welfare systems, policies, and legislation, and acquire various skills related to social welfare administration, organizational management, community organization, and networking.
Child and Women's Welfare Includes in-depth understanding of the general process of human development necessary as experts in child and women's welfare, and acquisition of skills to perform problem-solving strategies and techniques in an interrelated manner.
Youth, School, and Correctional Welfare Learn the application of knowledge and skills for individual and group social problem-solving methods necessary to understand youth and practice social work services.
Elderly and Disability Welfare Learn knowledge and skills to plan and evaluate macro and micro-level policy/practice programs to enhance the expertise of elderly and disability welfare, and to strengthen treatment and self-reliance at the group/individual level.
Medical and Mental Health Learn integrated knowledge about clinical interventions for patients, families, and groups, as well as various responses and problem-solving processes in hospitals and communities. Also, acquire theories and skills from a practical perspective with a linked understanding of medicine and social welfare or health and social welfare.
Non-governmental (Third Sector) and Volunteer Work Learn basic theories and practical strategies that can develop skills for planning and managing volunteer and third sector activities, and abilities for program development and evaluation.
