GKS Undergraduate Program Scholarship
Scholarship period
Same as the invitation period.
Cost

Airfare: Round-trip economy class ticket.
* Scholars currently residing in Korea for study or employment are not eligible for an entry airfare.
* Domestic travel expenses within the scholar's home country and round-trip travel insurance costs are not covered.
* For scholars from China and the Czech Republic, airfare will be provided by their respective countries under a mutual agreement, not by NIIED.
- Monthly Allowance: KRW 800,000 per month.
- Settlement Allowance: KRW 200,000 upon arrival (only for scholars arriving from their home countries; not applicable to those already residing in Korea).
- Return Allowance: KRW 100,000 upon returning to the home country.
- Language Training Fee: Fully covered.
- Tuition Fees: All admission fees are waived by the host institution (university), and tuition fees are covered by NIIED.
- Health Insurance: KRW 20,000 per month (with limited coverage).
- Special Award for Proficient Korean Speakers: KRW 100,000 per month for scholars with TOPIK Level 5 or 6, applicable from the start of the degree program.
Notes
- NIIED does not cover domestic travel expenses within the scholar's home country, relocation costs, or deposits.
- Scholars who are residing or staying in Korea for academic or professional reasons at the time of the announcement of successful candidates will not receive airfare for entry to Korea.
- NIIED does not cover travel insurance costs for the scholar's trip to Korea.
- Medical expenses must be paid by the scholar first and will be reimbursed by the insurance company. However, dental treatment and expenses for chronic diseases are not covered.
- Scholars who withdraw from the program during the scholarship period will not receive return airfare or the return allowance.
- Scholars who discontinue the program within three months of arriving in Korea must refund all received scholarship funds, including the airfare to Korea, settlement allowance, monthly allowance, and Korean language training fees.
