Exchange Student Program

Overview

Information

  • Register as an exchange student at an overseas partner university that has signed an exchange agreement with UOS, take lectures at the local university, participate in on-campus and off-campus activities to enhance international competence, and experience the society and culture of foreign cities.
  • A program based on the principle of mutual benefit, where students are sent on a one-to-one exchange to overseas universities with which UOS has signed a student exchange agreement.
  • Duration: 1 semester or 1 year
  • Tuition: Pay tuition to UOS for enrollment at the partner university
  • Selection: Every January and July
Criteria

Eligibility

  • Must be currently enrolled or on leave of absence and have completed at least one semester (must complete at least two semesters before the study abroad date)
  • For students on leave of absence, they must be registered at UOS before the study abroad date
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must possess foreign language proficiency sufficient to study in the relevant country
  • Must not have been subject to disciplinary action according to school regulations (excl. academic warnings)

Scholarships

Exchange student scholarship (UOS Office of International Affairs)

  • Initial settlement funds for exchange students who meet the scholarship conditions
  • Refer to the detailed selection criteria and scholarship amounts in the exchange student selection notice and orientation each semester

External scholarship

  • Scholarships from companies such as Mirae Asset for exchange students (requires separate application to the respective company)

ASEM-DUO Scholarship (www.asemduo.org)

  • Available for mutual one-to-one exchanges with universities in 27 ASEM member countries in Europe
  • Scholarship: €4,000 per person
  • Selection: UOS Office of International Affairs matches students and submits an application to the ASEM-DUO secretariat

JASSO Scholarship (www.jasso.go.jp)

  • Scholarship provided by Japan's Ministry of Education
  • Japanese partner universities recommend study abroad students directly to JASSO
